FACTS ABOUT EECP®/ECP ON NEGATIVE PRESSURE
Negative Pressure does not rest the heart any more than our systems rest the heart during deflation
In fact, it works against optimal pressure in a few ways :

EECP® EXPERT IN VASOMEDICAL USA EXPLAINS
# 1 Negative pressure in the cuffs puts pressure on the vascular beds in the legs and increases systemic vascular resistance during deflation which prevents optimal refilling and causes the heart to work harder with greater oxygen consumption.
# 2 Negative pressure creates a longer inflation time for all the cuffs on the next inflation. Not efficient counterpulsation.
# 3 With all the cuffs at negative pressure there is a significantly greater 'jolt' to the patient as the cuffs try to inflate on time and makes it very uncomfortable for the patient.
NOTE:
Negative Pressure was necessary in the original hydraulic systems to evacuate the water and remove pressure from patient legs. All companies with decent pneumatic systems (including good functional valves) dropped the negative pressure when they introduced their new pneumatic systems. Some companies keep trying to use this old technology (and vacuum pumps, another older technology) as unique good features. They are UNIQUE...to poor pneumatic Counterpulsation systems.
